Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
The Astro Vault is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.
Overview
The Astro Vault is a free space-data app that shows live information about near-Earth objects, the International Space Station (including crew), and deep-space spacecraft using public data sources.
Settings and temporary cache data are stored on your device. The Astro Vault does not operate its own account system or backend servers to collect your personal library of content. The app displays banner advertisements through Google AdMob.
Information Stored and Processed on Your Device
Depending on how you use the app, The Astro Vault may store or process on your device:
Your preferred measurement system (metric or imperial)
Temporary caches of space-data responses (for example near-Earth object, ISS orbit, crew, or deep-space position data) so the app can work more reliably offline or between refreshes
This information stays on your device unless you delete the app or clear app data.
Location (Optional)
If you grant location permission, The Astro Vault uses your approximate location and device heading to show the sky direction of the ISS and near-Earth objects relative to you.
Location is processed on your device for this feature. The Astro Vault does not upload your location to its own servers. You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings; the rest of the app still works without it.
Space Data Providers
To show live space data, The Astro Vault requests information from public third-party services, including:
NASA / JPL Horizons (planet and spacecraft positions)
NASA NeoWs (near-Earth object data)
NASA Eyes / Deep Space Network feeds
CelesTrak (ISS orbit elements)
People in Space API (ISS crew list)
Natural Earth (globe landmass data)
When the app fetches data, those providers may receive standard technical information such as your IP address and device/network details as part of normal internet requests. The Astro Vault sends only what is needed to retrieve the public data you are viewing—not a personal profile or account.
Those providers handle information under their own privacy practices. You can learn more from their sites, for example:
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The Astro Vault displays banner ads using Google AdMob. Google may collect and process device and advertising-related information (such as advertising identifiers and interaction data) to deliver and measure ads, according to Google’s policies.
Learn more:
You can limit ad tracking in iOS Settings (for example Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising / Tracking), subject to your device and OS version.
Accounts, Purchases, and Analytics
The Astro Vault:
Does not require an account
Does not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions
Does not include a separate third-party analytics SDK beyond what AdMob may use for ads
Payment and Apple ID information are not collected by The Astro Vault.
Data We Do Not Collect
The Astro Vault itself does not:
Sell your personal information
Operate its own user account system or cloud database of your personal content
Collect your location for marketing
Receive your device caches unless you choose to contact us and voluntarily share information
Data Retention and Deletion
Settings and caches remain on your device until you change them, clear app data, or remove the app. To stop location use, revoke location permission in iOS Settings. To stop AdMob data collection associated with the app, remove the app or adjust your device’s advertising/tracking settings as available.
Children’s Privacy
The Astro Vault is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
